3 Step Process for Depression: Part 1

As I mentioned last week in the MindBody TV episode, fall is a time when we move through (and release) grief and despair. This makes way for our expansion into greater aliveness.

When we resist this process, or don’t know how to move through it fluidly, we can feel very heavy and stuck and even “fall” into depression.

[spacer height=”20px”]

This is the process I use when I feel stuck!

I’ve been in my own expansion lately and have taken lots of time to let this integrate.

→ This is the process I use to release old energies as I emerge into ever new and more abundant energies of joy and peace. ←

It’s very important we learn what to do when we’re in this state! Most of what we typically try to do just creates more resistance! We push it away, medicate ourselves, distract, practice addictions like social media or other avoidance behaviors… everything BUT practice sitting with this energy!

This is because we haven’t understood what’s really going on and how to move through it to RECEIVE what we need! It’s natural to go through the process of expansion, and it doesn’t have to be unpleasant. We can move through our cycles (even despair) while appreciating the beauty of what’s really emerging for us.

Practice this or adapt it for yourself, and let me know how it goes for you!

Have you had any of these thoughts yourself?

It can be totally insane and seem to make no sense, but there are many energies that live in us and are ready to be released.

See if you can make more space for this to happen, and delight in all that this welcomes in!

Comment below and let me know what you notice!

XO
Kim

  1. Thank you for sharing Dr. Kim. This week I lost someone very close to me and beginning to grieve. I have been making space for what comes up but my mind is all over the place. I look forward to swamping.

    • Thank you for your authenticity, candid sharing, and giving us tools to sit with what is! Few teachers do this these days. Fall has been heavy for me, and I’m going to give the swamping a try! I do appreciate YOU and have been following your work for a few years now! You’ve assisted me in so many transformations – body, mind, soul. Blessings!

  4. Thank you, Dr. Kim! This was a contribution to me. It validated the way I spent my morning…vocalizing some swampy stuff and then tuning into my inner wisdom after I let myself speak all of the yuck out loud. It was very helpful to hear you be so real and vulnerable and when you said, “you’re doing it right now” that made a big impact on me because sometimes I don’t acknowledge that I am doing it when I’m doing it. Thank you again!

  5. Thankyou Dr Kim. This came at a perfect time for me. Sometimes we just need to be reminded negative emotion is ok and part of the process to expansion. I love your videos so much. Thanks Katrina

  7. I love how raw and truthful you were in this video. The emotion you showed, the vulnerability..the essence of going through emotional situations and having the courage to be in that moment..to feel those shitty feelings and be able to work through them, not just shut down. This was so amazing to hear, to watch and to experience. I appreciate you and the wisdom you give to everyone. Thank you!!!💜

  8. Thank you so much for sharing!!! I am going through so much muck, as you put it, myself and many of the same thoughts/feelings keep comming up again and again. In many ways I belive they are true, at the same time there is a lot of shame for feeling this way so it is my “dirty secrets” I respect you so much for being so authentic and honest about what is going on and it gives me hope and inspiration to work with it instead of pushing it away.Thank you ,thank you, thank you.

  10. Your sharing creates the bigger container so necessary for layers like this to surface more clearly, A truthful and hence a safe container. This very morning I was deep in the trenches. Having been an octave 2 dweller for about 4 decades I am exhausted. My swamp list was/is chilling. I feel these layers need a resonance with a much greater truth than that of our everyday living. My truth resonates with these concepts, like that of cycles of expansinon and the significance of sitting with what ever is there. I love the way you weave together our different essences and I am using it as an encouragement to believe in my own truth. This very young part in me that hates everything and would just want to disapper needs so much of this encouragement, acceptance and mirroring what it really is.

Thank you for sharing this powerful way to purge these swamp emotions. I recently lost my companion dog and have been in a state of denial unable to move through the grieving process. This is a very positive step in moving myself forward. Lots of love and light coming your way.

  16. Thank you for sharing this! Just this morning something really heavy was coming up for me and I asking myself – how do I really be with this in a way to let it move through and come to a deeper truth about who I am and what this means for my life. Then I watched this video. Divinely timed guidance! Thank you for being so honest and willing to share what you are moving through. It helps me so much!

  17. Hi Kim, I posted earlier today how helpful it was to hear this. And now having gone through the process with some things coming up for me, I wonder, what now? When I listened to what would assist me with my expansion a lot that came up was about acknowledgement, trusting myself, and trusting the process. But what happens with the thoughts after doing this. Do they integrate and release. Do you find that you have to do it again? Does anything around you change? I would love to hear from your experience about what happened after doing this – a Part 2 to this video.

    • Thank you for being so open and honest. So often we don’t want to recognize the “negative” feelings/thoughts that we have. This was a great message to allow ALL that is and still embrace ourselves. Hugely helpful.
